PRESSED FLOWER ART
Botanicals, flowers, herbs, leaves, are picked at their peak on a dry day, then layered in wooden presses. It takes approximately three weeks for them to dry naturally. Once dry, they are either left in the presses or placed in layers in boxes away from light and used within a year.
Designs for note cards and larger arrangements are created by gluing foliage first, then background and filler pieces and finally the centerpiece flowers and accents. Materials such as heavy card stock or mat board must be used to avoid buckling of surface.
Since dried botanicals will fade after years, laser prints are made of the designs to capture the beautiful colors, textures and detail. Originals are available by request and should be displayed away from window light or frequent fluorescent light. An original comes with a complimentary laser print. Wedding invitations and announcements can be framed with pressed botanicals using any desired color scheme.
